Hospitality work for models, and what it is actually worth

Why the number is the wrong measure here

A model with twelve thousand followers and a book full of editorial work is a different proposition from a lifestyle creator with the same number, and a venue that wants strong imagery knows it.

What is being judged is the work: how you are photographed, what you bring to a set, and whether the result looks like the brand wants to look.

What a hospitality collab gives you

These are not campaigns and it is worth being clear about that. What they are is access to locations, and a reason to be photographed somewhere that looks expensive.

• Images you are allowed to use, shot somewhere you would otherwise have to pay for.
• A working relationship with venues that book repeatedly, rather than a single job.
• A record of turning up and delivering, which is what gets you the next one.

Settle these before the day

Most of what goes wrong on a shoot is something nobody agreed in advance.

• Usage. Whether the venue can run the images in paid advertising, and for how long.
• What you are expected to wear, and who is providing it.
• Whether a photographer is provided or you are expected to arrange one.
• Whether you can post the images yourself, and when.

Dealing with the venue rather than around it

The thing that makes this work is that the business wrote the offer and you are answering it. There is no agency taking a percentage of a booking it did not arrange, and no intermediary deciding what you are worth.

That is also why the terms can be plain. Both sides stated what they bring before anything was booked.
